2006 Organisational Grant Round

In September 2006 Trustees agreed grants totalling £108,990 to the following organisations for projects (mainly 2 years in length) which will improve the provision of money / debt advice within the Anglian Water region:

Independent Financial Advocacy Service for vulnerable older people

Bedford and District Citizens Advice Bureau

Part time Money Advice Co-ordinator to provide a link between generalist and specialist Advisers on complex money advice issues – 7.5 hours/week

Bedfordshire John Howard Society

Advice and support sessions on debt management in drop in centre in Luton – 5 hours/week

CHARMS - The Essex Therapy Centre

Extend advocacy service and offer debt counselling and advice to people with MS – 20 hours/week

Cleveland Housing Advice Centre

Training for 4 volunteers and 2 paid staff

Corby Borough Welfare Rights Advisory Bureau

Double CCHD hours to 14 per week at Kettering County Court (AWTF funding already agreed for 7 hours per week from 1 August 2006)

Haverhill CAB

Outreach service for money / debt advice on Clements Estate, Haverhill – 6 hours/week

Ipswich Housing Action Group

Provision of debt counselling/money advice service at 2 Women Refuges in Ipswich  – 32 hours/month

Leighton Linslade and District CAB

Money Advisor and supervision 8 hours/week

North Hertfordshire and District CAB

CCHD at Hitchin County Court, 30 hours/week

OPTUA

Employ a Debt Officer for 12 hours per week

Theatre Active

Interactive theatre project delivered in Peterborough’s secondary schools - repeat of project delivered in spring 2006 (see 'Hard Cash, Easy Money' summary below.)

The Help Shop

Two part time debt advisers – 20 hours/week
